Paul Dignan is a Scottish artist based in Canada who is best known for his hard-edged approach to abstract painting.  This approach can be seen in the early stripe based paintings of the 90’s all the way up to the recent meticulously constructed, domestically scaled hybrid 3-dimensional panel paintings. Dignan is a graduate of the Slade School of Fine Art, London, and has exhibited widely both nationally and internationally since the mid-1980s.  His work can be found in various private, corporate, and public collections such as the Unilever Collection, London, The Canada Council for the Arts, and the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia. He has received various awards in both the UK and Canada.  In 1995 he was awarded The Rome Scholarship in Painting and in 2013 he was the recipient of  The Canada Council for the Arts International Studio and Curatorial Program residency in New York.
